Valentine's Day

I love being married to a romantic French husband. He always knows how to show me that he loves me.  These fancy chocolates and one dozen roses is what I woke up to on Valentine's Day. It was a great way to start the day.
Before Pierre got back from work, I prepared a nice fancy, candlelight dinner for us to enjoy.  We decided to do a movie for Valentine's day evening since we never go to full priced movies, but love seeing movies.  We saw Safe Haven, which was a perfect choice for this holiday.  Also, it is a movie I recommend to anyone, because I really enjoyed it.  It was a perfect day.

Another Colorado Weekend Adventure

As Pierre and I try to explore as much of the Denver area that we can, we decided to spend a day up at Estes Park, CO back in February.  We had heard a lot about this place and thought it would be fun to take a drive up in the mountains for the day.  This town is part of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
It was a picturesque place;there were mountains, a lake, and many cabins.
We first went to the Stanley Hotel which is a historic building and known to be a haunted hotel as well.  If you have seen or read "The Shining", it is the haunted hotel that is in that story supposedly.   It was a neat building to walk around outside and inside.  It was huge.  With all the haunted stories, I don't think I would be brave enough to actually stay there for a night.
We also took a walk around the frozen lake, drove around the town a bit, and went to lunch.  It was a pretty drive in the mountains and now we have another place to mark off our list of places we've been!

The Unexpected Day

January 14th was a very exciting day at the Stegelitz house.  Not expecting for the results to be positive, I took a pregnancy test in the morning.  I thought it was too good to be true, so I had to take a second one to make sure.   Sure enough, I was pregnant!
I was just alone at home and Pierre was at work, and since I couldn't wait all day to tell Pierre, and I for sure didn't want to tell him over the phone, I told him I wanted to meet up with him for lunch. Before I went, I bought a cute onesie (sp?) that said "Daddy & Me".  That was my way of telling him the news.  We were both super excited and spent the whole evening skyping our parents and siblings.  We were too happy to be able to hold it in for a couple weeks.
Woo hoo for babies!  Our kid will be the 4th grandkid for my parents this year.

2013

Our New Year's celebration was nothing special this year. Basically, we acted like boring and old married people.  The highlight of our night was watching a movie and eating lots of junk food.  We were definitely low-key for the evening.

However, we are excited for this new year and what it will bring for our family.

Christmas 2012

I was spoiled this year as we were able to go to Wichita for both holidays.  The only unfortunate thing was that we had to leave on Christmas day, for Pierre to be at work the next day.  The break was full of food, gifts, happiness, and the regular Christmas traditions. We sure missed having Chels and Jordan and their spouses. It was fun to have Brandon's kids around; their Christmas spirit and excitement added to the celebration.

We HAD to visit the Nifty Nut House while we were in town.

We were Joseph and Mary for our Nativity play this year. Not really sure why Joseph has long, blonde, curly locks.
They all got new PJs for their Christmas Eve gift.

I was excited that Pierre got the shirt I really wanted.

Thanksgiving 2012

It is now time to catch up on my blog. I have not posted anything for quite some time.

For the Thanksgiving holiday, Pierre and I drove to Wichita. I have not been home for Thanksgiving since 2003, so I was VERY excited. Pierre was able to use quite a few PTO days for the break, which was nice. We had almost an entire week there.  Chels and Rod were visiting for the holiday as well, so it was a full house.  Everyone was around except for Kayla and Jordan and Jess.

Some of the fun activities for the week included watching Christmas movies, going to the park to enjoy the nice weather, baking, Elf party at Brandon's house, Black Friday shopping and setting up for Christmas. Of course we ate a TON as well.  It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without family and food.

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving break for Pierre and I.  It sure was nice to go home to Wichita and to not have to drive far to get there.
